Mumbai : A key Indian equity index moved into the green about an hour before closing bell Friday after slipping briefly into the red a little earlier.
At 2.10 p.m., the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened higher at 16,795.66 points, was ruling at 16,831.49 points — 41.75 points or 0.25 percent higher than Thursday’s close at 16,789.74 points.
The S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), too, followed a similar trajectory and was trading in the positive at 5,008.1 points, up 0.39 percent.
Broader market indices were doing better with the BSE midcap index ruling 1.14 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index 0.75 percent up.
