Bhubaneswar : Discovery Channel will air a special programme Saturday showcasing the natural beauty, heritage and culture of Orissa, the channel said Monday.
Hosted by television personality Kim Jagtiani, the programme “Orissa: The Diviine Land” delves into the state’s documented history dating back to 2000 BC.
A land of many traditional Indian art forms, Orissa boasts of the classical Odissi dance, exotic sculptures and rituals like Jagannath Yatra which attract thousand of visitors.
“Dotted with ancient monuments ranging from the ruins of Sisupalgarh to the Lingaraj and Jagannath temples, from the World Heritage site of the Konark Sun Temple to the exquisitely carved Mukteswar, the state’s grandeur is captured in the programme,” the channel said in a statement.
The state also has a 500-km long coastline and some beautiful beaches.
The forest cover of Orissa plays host to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including the famed Royal Bengal Tiger.
The programme will be telecast at 9 p.m. Saturday.
