Los Angeles : Director Charles Burnett may soon make a documentary on US president Barack Obama’s mother Dunham showing how she raised him in Indonesia and Hawaii.
Studios Aloe Entertainment, IMG and Schroeder-Ptacek Prods are planning to produce the film. Hollywoodreporter.com reports that the documentary will be titled “Stanley Ann Dunham: A Generous Spirit”. It will also focus on her work in microfinance which helps small entrepreneurs who are mostly women in developing countries.
“She gave a lot of the backbone to our current president and his compassion to the people. With these small-scale economies, she took a concept that was emerging just as women were getting their rights and got them to think outside the box. She is a fascinating woman, and she was ahead of her time,” said executive producer Mary Aloe.
The project will begin shooting in Indonesia, Hawaii and Washington early next year. There are also talks to try and get President Obama involved.
