Raipur : A search was launched Friday in this Chhattisgarh capital to arrest four people who posed as CBI officials and duped a couple of gold ornaments worth Rs.50,000, police said.
“Four people posing as CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) officials stopped a couple – Manojit Mukherjee and his wife Chhanna Mukherjee – at the busy Shastri Bazar shopping complex Thursday and told the couple that they were conducting checks at various points.
“They advised the couple to remove their gold chain, gold bangles and silver jewellery items and hand them over till the checking is complete. Once the couple put their jewellery in a polythene bag and handed them over, the fake CBI officials ran away,” Superintendent of Police Shashi Mohan Singh told reporters.
Singh said a search operation has been launched in Raipur to arrest the fake CBI men.
