New Delhi : The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) is organising the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas-Europe (PBD-E), a regional diaspora event, at the Hague in the Netherlands Sep 19.
The event, to be held at the World Forum, is to “celebrate the success of Indian diaspora and unite them for a better India”.
The PBD-E is the third such convention of Indian diaspora to be held outside India.
“The main theme for the event is ‘The Rising India and the Role of Indian Diaspora’,” said the ministry in a website, specially designed for the European event.
“But local themes concerning the diaspora, like challenges and opportunities for the Indian diaspora in the host countries, the issues of integration and loyalty, the role of the young Indian professionals in the countries of their residence, the softening of the cultural barriers etc will also be on the agenda,” the ministry said.
The Netherlands has been chosen as venue for the European event this year as it is host to the largest number of People of Indian Origin in Europe.
The MOIA said: “The target will be between 300 to 500 persons of Indian origin from various countries of Europe, a strong delegation from India including Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi, some Dutch dignitaries and the wider Dutch public interested in India.”
