Patna : Disappointed over the failure of the police to find their son, parents of Shresth Sanjay, who was kidnapped here at gunpoint three days ago, have resorted to prayers for his release.
Shresth’s parents have been unable to eat properly. No food has been cooked at their residence for three days. They have spent sleepless nights awaiting a call from abductors or any good news from the police, but have so far been disappointed.
Shresth was kidnapped at gunpoint in the heart of Patna while he was on his way to school. Police have failed to make any breakthrough in their attempts to rescue him.
Delay in his recovery has forced his parents to resort to prayers. “His parents have more faith in God than the Bihar police because of the number of kidnapped bodies recovered,” a relative of Shresth said.
“They have also approached Hindu priests for special prayers at different temples for their only son’s safe recovery,” another relative said.
Protests continued here Thursday against the kidnapping. Students of several schools expressed their anger and protested by wearing black badges.
A hunt has been launched to look for the kidnapped boy but there has been no breakthrough so far, a police officer said.
Neelmani, additional director of police, said that police have prepared a list of criminals who were involved in cases of kidnapping for ransom. “Police are making all efforts to rescue the victim from the clutches of the abductors,” he said.
Police have raided several places in and around Patna to recover the boy, an official added.
Six-year-old Shresth is a student of Christ Church School.
He was kidnapped near the Maurya Hotel Monday morning when three armed men overtook the autorickshaw he was travelling in to school and forced the driver to stop.
The police have detained Ravi Kumar, the driver of the autorickshaw. They have also interrogated him about the incident.
