Ghaziabad : A lawyer was murdered and his daughter beaten up in their home by six armed men early Saturday when he refused to hand over some official papers to them, police said.
The six masked men barged into the Shalimar Garden house of 70-year-old Nathu Ram, who practises at Delhi’s Tis Hazari courts, and beat up his daughter Aruna when she refused to give them keys of the briefcase in which the documents were kept, police said.
“They were asking for briefcase keys and later killed my father when he tried to resist. The exact details of other valuables taken are not yet ascertained,” she said.
The lawyer died of suffocation after the robbers covered his face with a pillow during the scuffle, police officials said.
“A case has been registered under section 396 (dacoity with murder) of the IPC. The robbers were in search of some papers and later fled with the documents they were searching for. Investigations are on,” Additional Superintendent of Police Happy Guptan said.
