Oil ‘leak’ hits two Haryana schools

By IANS,

Ambala : Oil oozing out of the playgrounds of two schools here in Haryana has forced the authorities to ask hundreds of students to vacate the premises.

Ambala Deputy Commissioner Sameer Pal Srow has now asked public sector firms Indian Oil Corp and Hindustan Petroleum to study the perplexing problem.

The state-run primary and secondary schools at Bakra market of Ambala cantonment were ordered to be vacated last week after oil began oozing out of their playgrounds.

The schools have nearly 1,500 students, mostly from poor and weaker sections.

Both oil companies maintain huge oil storage tanks in a congested residential and commercial area of Ambala cantonment.

Srow has also sought a report from technical experts in this matter.
