New Delhi: A couple committed suicide by jumping before a train in east Delhi Sunday evening, police said.
The two, who were yet to be identified, were standing on the platform of Anand Vihar railway station and jumped in front of the Delhi-Howrah Rajdhani train as it pulled in around 5.15 p.m.
“They died on the spot. Their bodies have been kept in a mortuary. We are trying to identify them,” said a police officer. A suicide note was recovered from them, saying they were taking the step as their families were against their marriage.
A husband-wife couple had jumped before a train in west Delhi late Saturday. Though the woman died, her husband is still battling for life.
