Moscow : Russia has created a special task force to combat crime and terrorism in the north Caucasus region, the Kremlin said Wednesday.
President Dmitry Medvedev ordered the creation of the unit, which would be operational from April 19.
The president also ordered officials to prepare a new programme to combat crime and terrorist acts in the region.
The orders were given after an emergency meeting convened by Medvedev in response to terrorist attacks in Moscow and Dagestan that killed more than 50 people last week.
