Teachers hold AMU administration responsible for Prof. Siras death

By TCN News,

Aligarh: Jamia and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) teachers have taken notice of the death of Prof. Siras. Prof. Siras who was suspended from
the University when he was caught in a sting operation having sex with another man, was found dead in his room on Wednesday evening. Teachers
allege that it was the harassment by the authorities that led to his death.

In an open letter to the Vice Chancellor Abdul Azis, Jamia Teachers’ Solidarity Association (JTSA) blamed him for Prof. Siras’ death. “By
condemning his choices of love and life, by publicly so shaming him, and by colluding with those who turned his most private, intimate moments into sordid reality TV, you effectively, pushed him to the brink of death,” read JTSA’s letter.

The letter issued by Manisha Sethi and Adil Mehdi on behalf of JTSA termed it ironical that a VC who is facing charges of corruption and embezzlement should talk about morality, a reference to university authorities condemning homosexuality when Prof. Siras was suspended.

Aligarh Muslim University Teacher’s Association has asked for a high-level probe by CBI or a judicial officer in this matter.
