An amount of Rs. 25 crore has been earmarked for Murshidabad campus and Rs. 10 crore for Malappuram campus.

The grant will be a boost for the AMU project to bring into national academic fold the most excluded social segment by establishing its special centres in the development deficit districts. Besides Murshidabad and Malappuram, AMU will also open its campus in Kishanganj, Bhopal and Pune.

AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis has thanked the Central Government and the UGC for releasing the grant.
