Ma’dani: Karnataka police in Kerala

By TwoCircles.net Staff Correspondent,

Kollam: A team of the Karnataka police today arrived in Kerala reportedly to accelerate the procedures for arresting PDP leader Abdunnasir Ma’dani, 31st accused in the Bengaluru blast case. Ma’dani was denied anticipatory bail by the Karnataka High Court last day in the case and there is a non-bailable arrest warrant issued against him.

The Karnataka police team reached Kochi and then left for Kollam as Ma’dani was at Anvarsseri in Kollam. The team led by Bengaluru DCP Sidharamappa will reportedly meet the SP of Kollam. The team will also hand over a letter of Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Shanker Bidri to the Kerala police regarding Ma’dani’s arrest. However, it is supposed that the Karnataka police have come only to discuss and analyse matters regarding the arrest, and not to arrest Ma’dani immediately.

The fasting satyagraha by PDP leaders at Anvarsseri demanding justice for Ma’dani will reportedly end today. Ma’dani is likely to address the media today afternoon.

Since the issuance of the non-bailable arrest warrant in June, there was an air that Ma’dani could be arrested any time by the Karnataka police. However, the warrant was extended several times as the police repeatedly informed the court that they were not able to arrest him. The anticipatory bail plea submitted by Ma’dani in a Bengaluru court and then in the Karnataka High Court also took long time as the prosecution demanded for more time most of the time the case was considered. Ma’dani has decided to approach the Supreme Court as the High Court too denied him bail. The arrest warrant has been extended to August 17. The Kerala government has, from the beginning itself, offered all support and cooperation to the Karnataka police for arresting Ma’dani.
