Berlin rally backs Palestinian right to live in Jerusalem al-Quds

By IRNA,

Berlin : The Israeli embassy in Berlin on Thursday became the scene of rally in support of a Palestinian man who has been on a 17-day hunger strike for his infant daughter’s right to live in Jerusalem al-Quds.

Organized by a group, calling itself ‘Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East’, protesters held up banners backing Firas Maraghy’s right to live with his family in Jerusalem al-Quds.

The Israeli embassy has been continuing its stonewalling tactics by refusing to grant travel documents for Maraghy’s seven-month-old baby, which would allow her to reside in occupied Jerusalem al-Quds.

Talking to the press on the sidelines of the rally, Maraghy reiterated his daughter’s right to return Jerusalem al-Quds.

“I want these travel documents for her since I don’t want her to enter Jerusalem al-Quds as a tourist.

Even though my daughter was born abroad she has a right to return,” said Maraghy, who branded Israel a “racist state.”

He vowed to continue his hunger strike until Israeli officials grant him the necessary documents.

Meanwhile, a close friend of Maraghy, Laif Khalil told IRNA that the rally was aimed at “showing solidarity and support” for the Palestinian
activist.

Khalil accused the Zionist regime of pursuing a “racist policy” and “ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem al-Quds.”

He pointed out that Israeli officials had also refused to issue travel documents for him, simply because he has lived in Germany for 18 years.

Khalil stressed the Palestinian problem was “a global problem.”

He urged German Chancellor Angela Merkel to step up pressure on the Zionist regime to end its ethnic cleansing.
