Chandigarh : Hisar city in Haryana Friday shivered at a minimum temperature of 3.8 degrees Celsius, the coldest in the region. Light fog also engulfed most parts of Punjab, Haryana and their joint capital city Chandigarh in the morning.
Met officials predicted a further dip in temperature in the coming days.
Ambala, Karnal and Gurgaon cities of Haryana also registered a minimum temperature of 7.4, 6.0 and 8.4 degrees Celsius respectively Friday.
“We have observed a sharp fall in the mercury during the last couple of days. We are expecting light rainfall at some places and it would bring a fall of two to three degrees further in the coming days,” a Met official told IANS here Friday.
He added: “Due to the increase in moisture content in the atmosphere we would have thick fog during nights and early mornings in this region.”
The centrally administered city, Chandigarh, recorded a minimum temperature of 10.5 degrees Celsius Friday morning.
In Punjab, the holy city of Amritsar was the coldest at 5.6 degrees Celsius. Patiala and Ludhiana recorded a minimum temperature of 6.1 and 7.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
