Chennai: With the aim to increase the number of Muslim IAS officers, the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board in collaboration with Socio Economic Educational Development Trust (SEEDT) has set up an IAS academy centre at the New College in Chennai where aspirants from the community will be coached free of cost.

Inaugurating the centre Tamil Nadu Waqf Board Chairman Abdur Rahman urged the students to try their best to clear India’s top examination of Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He expressed his concern over the low representation of the community in Civil Services. “Due to lack of proper counseling, majority of the students feel that only medical and engineering professions will lead them to better quality of life. Therefore, only few try to become an IAS officer” he added.
