Madhya Pradesh police probing fraudulent withdrawals

Bhopal : The Madhya Pradesh Police is probing the alleged fraudulent withdrawal of Rs.1.8 crore from the account of the state’s tourism development corporation, an officer said Friday.

“The case has been handed over to cyber crime department, so nothing more can be said at present”, Senior Superintendent of Police Adarsh Katihar told IANS of the case that has been registered at the T.T.Nagar police station.

Sources in the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC) said the money has been withdrawn from State Bank of India’s Guwahati branch in a month’s time span, with the withdrawer forging signatures on the corporation’s cheques.

Due to the core banking system, the incident happened outside this state capital the sources said.

“The money has been withdrawn in five to six installments,” an officer said.
