Lucknow: A delegation of several ministers from Malayasia visited the Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Nadawatul Ulama,Lucknow on Sunday. Nadwa officials termed it as educational visit for exploring the possibility of enrollment of Malayasian students in Nadwa besides adopting a curriculum for the madarsas in Malayasia on similar lines.
Nadwa official Maulana Salman Hussaini informed newsmen that the Malaysian delegation met the Rector Maulana Rabey Hasan Nadwi besides heads of different sections of the seminary. “The visitors gave ample time to understand the teaching schedule in Darul Uloom Nadawatul Ulama besides the course and curriculum adopted in the seminary. They reviewed the course content from primary to higher level,” he said.
Maulana Hussaini stated that the delegation visited the seminary at the behest of Sheikh Abdul Anis Nek, the premier of Kalantaan province in Malayasia who himself is a pass-out from Deoband seminary. His younger brother has been a student of Darul Uloom Nadawatul Ulama, Lucknow. The delegation had visited the Deoband seminary before coming to Darul Uloom Nadawatul Ulama, Lucknow. In Lucknow, the delegation comprised their education minister, tourism minister besides senior parliamentarian and former minister Abdullah Yaqoob.
“They are interested in developing syllabus for their madarsas in Malayasia on the lines of institutions in India. The course and curriculum here is a balanced mix of religious and modern teachings which will be emulated in their countries,” said Maulana Salman Hussaini.
Maulana Nazrul Hafeez from Nadwa stated that the seminary has close link with Malayasia. “Students from Malayasia used to study here but the trend has stopped a decade ago. Indian embassy does not gives visas to Malayasian students for studying in Nadwa. The delegation is exploring the possibility of re-starting the process. Presently their students study at Jamia Al Azhar in Cairo, Egypt which besides being faraway is also expensive. The delegation feels that the teaching schedule in Nadwa is ideal and provides good upbringing,” he said.
