New Delhi: The national capital was relatively warmer Thursday with both maximum and minimum temperatures rising above what is normal for this time of the year, but fog disrupted flights for a couple of hours in the morning, officials said.
At least eight domestic flights were diverted to nearby cities, airport authorities said. The low visibility procedure (LVP) was put in place at 7.15 a.m. for around two-and-half hours.
“In the morning, the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport flight operations were disrupted due to fog. As a result, eight domestic flights were diverted. A total of 56 flights were operated during LVP,” an airport statement said.
On Thursday, Delhi recorded a minimum of 14.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, and a maximum 27.1 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal, a Met Office official said.
Partly cloudy sky is expected in the national capital Friday with the maximum temperature expected to touch 29 degrees Celsius. “The minimum would be around 16 degrees Celsius,” an official said.
The Met Office forecast further rise in mercury over the next two-three days and said the city may witness mist Friday morning.
