Sangrur (Punjab): Punjab will computerise all land records in the state and provide people online access to them by December 2010, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said here Thursday.

“After the completion of this project, NRIs can online check the details of their land records sitting anywhere in the world. This Rs.115-crore project will be completed by the end of this year. So far 75 percent of the work has been completed,” said Badal, after inaugurating a computerised land record kiosk here, around 125 km from Chandigarh.

“Revenue department will computerise more than three crore land records and counter check them to make this project successful. Punjab farmers are suffering at the hands of some corrupt revenue officials due to lack of transparency in the land records but now things will certainly improve,” he said.

Badal also said the government will implement the recommendations of administrative reform commission report by Dec 31.

“In 2011, people of Punjab will witness a sea change in the working of all public dealing departments. We would implement the recommendations of administrative reform commission by year end,” said Badal.
