Tri-nation series matches to have an early start

By IANS,

Dhaka : The start of the remaining matches in the ongoing tri-nation series here has been advanced by half-an-hour because of the heavy dew that is causing a lot of problem in the evening.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to start the remaining matches at 1400 hrs (1330 IST).

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sri Lankan skipper Kumara Sangakkara had suggested an early start from the scheduled time to minimise the dew factor for teams fielding second.

“In view of the dew at night we have reached an understanding with the broadcasters to start the match half an hour early from tomorrow onwards. We wanted to start one hour early, but it is all right. The teams have accepted the half an hour early start,” BCB media committee chairman Younus Jalal said Thursday.

After the defeat against Sri Lanka in the opening match of the series, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan was not happy and had said that dew factor could play a major role in future games.

The dew makes it difficult for the bowlers to grip the ball. The toss thus becomes crucial in deciding the course of the match.
