London : More people across the world are becoming outraged by Israel’s arrogance of power, its rejection of international law and brutal repression of Palestinians blockaded in Gaza, a British author says.
Alan Hart told IRNA that the Zionist regime is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza by intensifying the blockade in complicit with the West.
“[Western] governments are complicit in Zionism’s crimes and it really matter what the peoples of the world think about it. In fact more and more ordinary people are obviously outraged by Israel’s crimes in Palestine,” he said.
Hart said, however, that Western governments are not going to change their approach to Israel “until enough of their citizens and voters insist that they do.”
He added that the Zionist regime has become its “own worst enemy” by its brutal repression of the Palestinians and its contempt for international rules.
Hart, also a veteran journalist, criticised some Arab governments for their apathy towards the Palestinians, saying that “with the Arab regimes as enemies, Israel doesn’t need friends”.
Referring to the public opposition to the invasion of Iraq by the United States and Britain, he said large demonstrations in 2003 forced the British government to “wobble” over the issues of weapons of mass destruction.
“Up to two million citizens of all faiths and classes demonstrated against the idea of war. Blair and his government ignored them although we now know from the accounts of some of Blair’s ministers at the time that the demonstration caused his government to wobble.”
Hart said the more citizens become politically engaged in the struggle for justice for the Palestinians, the less Western governments will be able to dance to Zionism’s tune.
