RSS chief in Lucknow on three-day visit

By IANS,

Lucknow : Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat arrived here Friday evening on a three-day visit, during which he would have “special sessions” with young workers of both the RSS and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to “develop their leadership skills”.

While the RSS has not mentioned any specific objective behind Bhagwat’s three-day visit, sources said he would focus on promoting and finding “new generation leadership” in the RSS and the state unit of the BJP.

“Although it would be a routine meeting today, most probably on Saturday, Bhagwat will hold separate sessions with young workers and leaders of RSS and BJP. As per his (Bhagwat) instructions, only youth will be allowed to participate in those session,” an RSS functionary told IANS.

Some senior party leaders of the BJP state unit have also sought time with the RSS chief to give them their account of what ails the party in the state.

“We will definitely hold discussions with the RSS chief for expanding the party’s base in the state,” a senior BJP leader said.

As the RSS has clearly stated that the press would not be allowed to meet Bhagwat during his tour, sources said the media persons might be invited on the last day of the visit Sunday.
