Tuesday starts warmer in Delhi

By IANS,

New Delhi : Delhiites woke up to a relatively warmer Tuesday with the minimum temperature a notch above average at 8.4 degrees Celsius, the weatherman said.

“There was fog this (Tuesday) morning and general visibility was around 500 metres at 9 a.m. The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.4 degrees Celsius, a notch above average,” an official from the India Meteorological Department said.

With the prevailing winds, the fog is likely to clear up. “The sky will remain clear during the day.”

“Tuesday is expected to be warmer and the daytime temperature is predicted to hover around 18.9 degrees,” the official said.

At the Indira Gandhi International Airport, runway visibility was comfortably above the 150 metres needed for the flights to take off and land.

“There are no delays today (Tuesday) owing to the fog,” an airport official said.

But the railways schedule continued to be marred with delays due to fog elsewhere in northern India.

“At least five trains have been rescheduled and 23 trains delayed by three hours or more. Around 40 trains have been cancelled owing to prevailing weather conditions in the region,” a senior Northern Railways official told IANS.

The maximum temperature recorded Monday was 14.3 degrees Celsius.
