Constitution reflect India’s hopes and aspirations: IMC-USA

By TCN News,

New Delhi: Reminding Indians the importance of its Constitution that came into force on this day sixty years ago, Indian Muslim Council-USA (IMC-USA) sent its message of joy on this occasion.

IMC-USA, a Washington based advocacy group, in its statement issued today, said that India’s Constitution “reflects the hopes and aspirations of all Indians irrespective of economical status, religion, or caste.” Prepared under the leadership of Jawahar Lal Nehru, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, and Dr. BR Ambedkar, the Constitution “provides equal rights and equal access to opportunities as well as freedom to all its citizens.”

The statement said that IMC-USA recommits itself to work for the betterment and advancement of India. While rejoicing at the increased opportunities that economic growth of India has brought to her citizen, it cautions that sustainable growth, prosperity, and global leadership is “only possible when all of its citizens enjoy equal rights and opportunities to contribute to their country.”

“Leaving behind any segment of the population is not an option and IMC-USA will continue to fulfill its patriotic duty to be vigilant and do its part to keep Indian society peaceful, pluralistic and just,” read the statement.

Established in 2002, IMC-USA has chapters in over 10 states of the United States.
