New Delhi : This futuristic calendar not only helps you with the days and dates of 2010 but it also takes you straight to the year 2100 as the Gregorian calendars for these two years are identical.
The theme of this calendar is Futurewise and it takes a look at what the world may be like in the year 2100. Through its pictures, the calendar depicts how rapidly changing technologies will lead to some amazing new inventions. It also has images of how our planet may look like devoid of its flora, fauna and natural resources because of the consequences of global warming.
Futurewise has been designed by Spirit Designs and printed by Pragati Offset, which has been in the business of printing since 1962.
Every year, Hyderabad-based Pragati Offset launches a limited edition calendar for its clients and friends and they try to focus on a strong theme.
“We want people to think that we all have a responsibility towards future generations, to ensure that we are taking care of our planet so that they have the same opportunities as we do,” Narendra Paruchuri, the CEO of Pragati Offset, told IANS at the launch of the calendar here Friday evening.
“This year, we have not only used environment-friendly material and procedures to produce the calendar but also strongly convey the idea that each and every person on this planet has to collectively join the fight against global warming,” he added.
According to Rajeev Gupta, the designer of the calendar, a lot of thought and research went behind its making.
“Several concepts were developed but we wanted something different. Accidentally, during our research we came across the fact that the Gregorian calendars for year 2010 and 2100 are identical. This was the turning point and that is how the idea was generated,” Gupta explained.
The calendar talks about eco-friendly vehicles that not only ride fast but also fly in the sky, how coral reefs are dying because of global warming and how many languages would be extinct by 2100.
