New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday expelled former party MP Lakshman Singh, the younger brother of Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, from the primary membership of the party for criticising party president Nitin Gadkari, an official said.
“He was expelled on the charges of indiscipline and anti-party activities,” BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told IANS.
Lakshman Singh was upset over BJP president Nitin Gadkari’s remarks against Digvijay Singh and had sought an apology and also criticised him for his lack of political experience.
Gadkari had called Digvijay Singh “Aurangzeb ki aulad” (offspring of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb), which Lakshman Singh is reported to have termed as “a mean comment”.
Lakshman joined the BJP ahead of the 2004 Lok Sabha polls when he was sitting Congress MP from Rajgarh.
