New Delhi: Officials of the Bureau of Immigration responsible for immigration services at all 12 international airports in the country Tuesday denied media reports which said they are on an undeclared go-slow strike.
The reports on the undeclared strike surfaced Friday when passengers of a Sri Lankan airlines flight from Colombo reported that all the immigration counters at the international terminal (T2) of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) were empty and that they faced inconvenience due to this.
“Nothing of such sort ever happened. I do not think any sort of inconvenience was caused to the passengers of that particular flight. Even if it is a stray incident it is one-off and is being blown out of proportions,” said a immigration officer on condition of anonymity.
Some reports said the immigration officials were on some sort of a protest, as they were unhappy with their shift-timings.
“There is no situation like that at all and if we were on a strike or working slowly then I guess the airport operations would not be going on so smoothly,” the official added.
