Kochi: PM Jamal, Chief Executive Officer of the Kerala Waqf Board, has reportedly approached the Kerala High Court seeking the prevention of further action on the Waqf Enquiry Commission Report. The petition filed by PM Jamal reportedly asks the HC to direct the government not to take any further action on the report which denied him justice.
The petition reportedly says that the report was made without hearing his part. The petition also accuses the government of playing political revenge on him.
The Commission chaired by Js MA Nizar investigated about the allegations related to the Waqf Board. Aboobaker Chengat was member secretary in the Commission. The report tabled in the Assembly on July 15 reportedly recommends a vigilance investigation into the construction of the headquarters of the Board as well as disciplinary action against CEO PM Jamal. The report accuses that procedures were not followed in the construction of the Board’s headquarters at Kaloor in Ernakulam, accounts were not audited, the Waqf share was not properly collected, the financial dealings were not transparent etc. Jamal has reportedly refuted all these allegations in his petition.
The Forum for Social Action based in Thiruvananthapuram had last day convened a consultation meeting of all Muslim organizations in the state in the matter of the Waqf Enquiry Commission report. The meeting opined that the Enquiry Commission report was prepared based on ‘non-existent evidences with distortion of truth and stretched facts’. It decided to educate the general public about truth and facts in the wake of allegations and controversies surrounding the Waqf Board and its activities as well as the CEO PM Jamal.
Major Muslim organisations have expressed their anguish over the wrong propaganda in connection with the Waqf Board.
