Kozhikode: All expatriates should be included in the census of population, demanded the Popular Front of India. The list of houses and the National Population Register (NPR) will be made this year and collecting details from every house will take place in February 2011. The NPR is the base for Unified Identity Card (UID) which is an indirect method of proving citizenship. The current situation is that the expatriates who left the country to make a living are risking their very citizenships.
The expatriates would be ignored when the UID or card numbers are distributed. The government should take necessary measure sot include them too in the census as they might have to return to the country any time. Either a special column should be included in the NPR or the details of the expatriates too should be collected when doing the detailed census in February 2011.
The PFI will organize Freedom Parade and other public programmes in various places on August 15. The court order on the Bhopal case is unsatisfactory, said KM Shareef, PFI general secretary in a statement. The court order gave a bad message to the monopolies who indulged in crimes like these. He added that the central government should withdraw the Civilian Nuclear Liability Bill, learning from this experience.
