Delhi should use Ganga water, not ask Haryana for more water: Hooda

By IANS,

Chandigarh : Pleading inability to spare water amid a crunch it is facing, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Tuesday said Delhi should rather use Ganga river water to meet its increasing demand of drinking water.

“Haryana can not spare more water for Delhi since we are ourselves facing a water crunch,” Hooda told reporters here.

On Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal seeking royalty on river water flowing down from Punjab to Haryana, Hooda said the Punjab government was unnecessarily raking up the issue.

“We will take our share of the water. Punjab has no right to claim royalty on the water flowing (down). Is Punjab producing this water? How can you stop the water? Can (upstream) Himachal stop the water?,” Hooda asked.
