Ranchi: Three Maoist rebels were arrested in Jharkhand’s Latehar district and five guns and Rs.1 lakh in cash seized from them, police said Wednesday.
According to police, among those arrested is a self-styled area commander, Rajendra Yadav, of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI).
The rebels were arrested from a jungle near Chandawa of Latehar district, around 130 km from here.
The police said the cash seized was collected as levy by the rebels. Three pistols, including one 9 mm pistol, two loaded rifles, eight mobiles, 18 SIM cards, 12 live cartridges and one bike were also seized from the rebels, police said.
PLFI is active in eight of the state’s 24 districts.
