By IANS,

Chennai: Two AIADMK legislators who attended the ruling DMK’s general council meeting have been asked to explain their action by Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker R. Avudaiappan.

The AIADMK lawmakers — L. Radhakrishnan of Kovilpatti constituency and K. Rajendran of Jayamkondam — were served the notice in response to a complaint from the AIADMK’s Whip K.A. Sengottaiyan Feb 22 who requested the speaker to disqualify them.

Speaking to reporters here Monday, Speaker Avudaiappan said the two MLAs have been served with notice to respond to the petition made by AIADMK’s Whip.

Last month, on different dates Radhakrishnan and Rajendran met DMK leaders M. Karunanidhi and his two sons M.K. Alagiri and M.K. Stalin on the pretext of submitting memorandums for betterment of their constituencies.

Subsequently the two attended the DMK’s general council meeting here. The AIADMK has 57 MLAs in the 235-member state assembly, while the DMK has 98.
