Greater Noida : Three armed robbers Tuesday looted Rs.34 lakh from three employees of a petrol station in the parking lot of a State Bank of India (SBI) branch here.
The police said cashier B.D. Singh, security guard Dheeraj Singh and driver Punit had gone to deposit cash of three days’ sale from the petrol pump of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited to the SBI.
At around noon when Punit stopped the car in the parking lot of the bank near Pari Chowk, three robbers, armed with pistols, overpowered the cashier and snatched the bag containing the cash.
They fled on a motorcycle after taking the bag. The employees informed the company manager about the incident who called the police.
Colonel (retired) V.B. Singh, the manager of the petrol station, told police that his men were going to deposit the cash with the bank.
“The security guard of the (petrol) pump was unarmed. It was a serious lapse on their part. We are interrogating him also. We have registered a case and are trying to nab the robbers,” said Surendra Verma, superintendent of police (SP), Greater Noida.
