Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal Wednesday hinted hike in fares of state-run buses in view of the rise in petrol and diesel prices.
“There are genuine reasons for increasing the bus fares as the recent rise in petrol and disease prices has burdened the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) too much,” he told reporters here.
“Punjab and Haryana have already increased the fares by 15 to 20 per cent, while in Delhi the increase was as high as 50 per cent. The issue (of fare hike) is under consideration of the HRTC,” he added.
The HRTC is operating more than 1,900 buses within and outside the state.
