New Delhi : Additional marshals were deployed in the Rajya Sabha Monday after members opposed to the women’s reservation bill tried to snatch papers from Chairman Hamid Ansari.
When the house met after third adjournment of the day at 3 p.m., five marshals were deployed on each side of chairman’s podium.
The house was adjourned for an hour at 2 p.m. after Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Janata Dal members came close to the podium of Ansari and tried to snatch papers from him. Some papers were torn and thrown in the air by the agitating members.
Marshals were deployed at the entrance of the house of elders.
Pen stands and movable objects were removed from the chairman’s podium and from tables belonging to the secretary general and the house reporters after the Rajya Sabha was adjourned by the chairman.
