New Delhi : India lost 2-4 to Argentina in play-off to finish eighth in the Hockey World Cup here Saturday.
Argentina opened the scoring through Tomas Argento to go 1-0 up in the first half.
India scored the equaliser through Sandeep Singh’s penalty stroke before Argentina’s three-goal burst took the game away from the hosts.
Lucas Vila first converted a penalty corner and then scored a field goal. Facundo Calloni joined the party to make it 4-1 for Argentina.
Shivendra Singh pulled one back through captain Rajpal Singh’s pass.
