Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia : Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani is expected to attend the sixth World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) here scheduled for May 18 to 20, a Pakistan High Commission official told Bernama on Sunday.
He said Gilani would lead a delegation of ministers, businessmen and top government officials.
The Pakistani leader is also expected to have bilateral talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak during the visit.
Gilani’s first visit to Malaysia was in July 2008 when he attended the summit of the Group of Eight Developing Islamic Countries (D8) in Kuala Lumpur.
The High Commission official said Pakistan was also expected to participate in the WIEF Business Women’s Forum, Young Leaders Forum and an exhibition on the sidelines of the sixth WIEF.
WIEF, formerly known as the OIC Business Forum, is a global conference that acts as an international business platform. WIEF has its headquarters in Malaysia and its inaugural meeting took place here in 2005.
Malaysia is a major investor in Pakistan, a country of some 180 million people.
Total trade between the two Islamic countries reached RM6.12 billion in 2008, and rose to RM6.27 billion last year.
