Chhattisgarh chief minister takes ride on Delhi Metro

New Delhi: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh Monday took a ride on the Delhi Metro with several other of his cabinet colleagues, officials said.

“Raman Singh, leading a delegation of 70 members, took a Metro ride from the Central Secretariat Metro station to Pragati Maidan Metro station. On the way, he also saw the interchange between two Metro corridors at the Rajiv Chowk Metro station,” Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said.

The Chhattisgarh government plans to have a Metro system in the state capital Raipur.

“During an earlier visit, the chief minister had a discussion on this issue with Delhi Metro managing director E. Sreedharan,” Dayal added.

He said that Singh complemented Delhi Metro for its efficient service and added that he, along with his colleagues, immensely enjoyed the visit.

The Delhi Metro has become a preferred mode of speedy and comfortable transport for thousands of commuters. With a footfall of 950,00 daily passengers, the existing 95-km span of Delhi Metro inter-connects various parts of the city including the north and easrtern fringes of the national capital.
