IPL issues to top agenda in working committee meeting

By IANS,

Mumbai: The unsavoury developments surrounding the Indian Premier League (IPL) are expected to top the agenda at the working committee meeting of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) here Sunday.

BCCI president Shashank Manohar will inform board members about the suspension of Lalit Modi from the vice presidentship of the board as also as the IPL chairman.

Modi has been given 15 days time to reply to the chargesheet against him. The charges include bid rigging and anomalies in the selling of broadcast and Internet rights.

Manohar would also explain to the committee members the legal issues surfacing out of allegations of financial irregularities in IPL that are being looked into by Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate officials.

IPL’s interim chairman Chirayu Amin, who is also a board vice president, will also be present at the meeting.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will be represented by its vice president Dilip Vengsarkar in place of its president, Sharad Pawar.

The working committee meeting was earlier scheduled April 24 but was postponed following the IPL fiasco. Instead, an urgent IPL governing council meeting was called on April 26 to discuss the IPL fall-out.
