Patna : Maoists blasted a railway track in Bihar Thursday during a 48-hour strike called by them after police foiled a Maoist-backed outfit’s public meeting.
Police sources said the track was blown up near Kurmi railway station in Muzaffarpur district, about 70 km from here, hitting train services.
The police had allegedly prevented members of the Mahangai Virodhi Morcha, a pro-Maoist group, from organising a public meeting against price rise April 30 in Muzaffarpur.
Additional Director General of Police P.K. Thakur said that in view of the strike that began Wednesday midnight, additional security personnel had been deployed in Maoist-affected districts.
