Court stays result of IP university counselling

By IANS,

New Delhi : The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIU) was Friday restrained by the Delhi High Court from declaring the result of counselling sessions, to be held Saturday and Sunday, for post-graduate medical courses.

A division bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice Madan B. Lokur directed the GGSIU not to declare till further order the result of counselling sessions.

The court, however, made it clear that the counselling will be conducted as per earlier schedule.

The court will now hear the matter May 31.

The court was hearing an appeal filed by 58 students who opposed the last month order of the court directing the GGSIU to hold a re-test for filling up 96 seats under the state quota.

Demanding setting aside of the single bench order, the students in their petition stated that those students who are not even party to the case, will be benefited, which is discriminatory.

The university’s decision on reserving seats under the state quota was in conflict with the apex court order, the petition said.
