Kabul : At least five civilians were killed and six others were injured by a roadside bomb Sunday morning in southern Afghanistan, a local government official said.
The vehicle was en route to Lashkargah, the provincial capital of the province of Helmand, when it was blown up in Bashran, Daud Ahmadi, the provincial governor’s spokesman, said.
“Five innocent civilians, including a woman, were killed and six others including four children were injured in the blast,” he said.
He blamed “enemies of Afghanistan and people” for the attack, a term often used by officials to describe Taliban insurgents.
An estimated 229 civilians, including women and children, were killed in war-related violence during October, the interior ministry said.
