New Delhi: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India said Wednesday it is not auditing the controversial Adarsh housing society scam in Mumbai that led to the ouster of Ashok Chavan as Maharashtra chief minister.
“CAG has not commenced any audit as yet in the Adarsh housing society,” CAG Vinod Rai said, refuting some media reports.
In a statement, he clarified that the CAG had no exclusive discussion with any section of the media and the report of CAG starting audit of Adarsh housing society scam was incorrect.
The 31-storey Adarsh apartment block being constructed in south Mumbai’s posh Colaba area has been hit by allegations of corruption and irregularities, including charges that the flats meant for Kargil heroes and war widows were given to bureaucrats, relatives of politicians and former army and navy chiefs, among others.
