Bhopal: Congress and Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) cadres clashed in Jabalpur Friday, forcing the police to cane charge them. The Jabalpur administration has imposed Section 144 in the district, that prohibits the gathering of five or more people.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Jabalpur V. Madhukumar denied that there had been a confrontation between Congress and RSS cadres. “When Congressmen were protesting some people pelted stones at them. Later police did a mild lathi charge to disperse them, in which a few people got injured.”
Deputy Commissioner, Jabalpur, Gulshan Bamra imposed section 144 for an indefinite period in the district.
Congress workers were protesting former RSS chief K.S. Sudarshan’s derogatory remarks against party chief Sonia Gandhi.
