Reliance Infrastructure net profit up 11 percent

Mumbai: Leading utility and infrastructure development firm Reliance Infrastructure, part of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group, Friday reported a 11 percent increase in net profit for the second quarter ended Sep 30 at Rs.360 crore ($80 million).

Total operating income of the company rose 2 percent to Rs.4,043 crore, against Rs.3,974 crore in the previous corresponding quarter, Reliance Infrastructure said in a regulatory filing.

The company logged 2,415 million units of electricity in the quarter under review, against 2,629 million units in the second quarter of the previous fiscal.

Reliance Infrastructure, which has a presence across power generation, transmission, distribution and trading is also involved in developing projects like roads, highways, metro rail, airports and speciality real estate.

Currently it is developing 25 such projects aggregating Rs.40,000 crore including 11 road projects of around 970 km.

It also distributes power to metros like Mumbai and Delhi.

The ADAG firm is also developing 3 metro rail projects in Mumbai and Delhi worth around Rs.16,000 crore including the Delhi Airport express link.
