New Delhi: India Sunday congratulated Russia on the 110th anniversary of its consulate in Mumbai, and hoped it will continue to play “an outstanding role” in building bilateral relations.
In a letter to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey V. Lavrov, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna conveyed warm wishes to all personnel and staff of the consulate.
Terming it a “momentous occasion”, he said it was a “reminder that the India-Russia strategic partnership is rooted in a historical and diplomatic relationship spanning over more than a century”.
“Mumbai serves as India’s financial and business capital and will continue to play an important role in forging closer trade and investment ties between our two countries,” Krishna said.
He expressed confidence that the Russian consulate will continue to play “an outstanding role in building bilateral ties”.
