Hyderabad : They came from different geographical locales, cultures and religions, but more than 500 children from eight countries joined hands for a common cause here Saturday – peace.

The children were participating in ‘Kolor Champ’, an international art competition organised by Global Art India, a unit of SIP Academy India Pvt Ltd, at Hyderabad International Convention Centre.

With the theme of ‘1 World’, children in the age group of 5 to 15 years from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United States, Vietnam and India highlighted the message of peace and unity in their paintings.

Dinesh Victor, managing director of SIP Academy India, said they were claiming a place in the Limca Book of Records for being the first Indian art competition which saw participation from eight countries.

“We believe that developing creativity in children is crucial to their success in all walks of life. In today’s competitive world, creativity differentiates the winners from the also-rans,” he said.

The organisers said the competition was also significant as it was being held a day after the second anniversary of Mumbai terrorist attacks.

“It is a wonderful feeling to see so many children participating in this competition for peace,” said Lisa Goh, principal of a painting school in Kuala Lumpur.
