Congress raises Bengal’s law and order with governor

Kolkata : The Congress’ West Bengal unit Saturday met Governor M.K. Narayanan to draw his attention to the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and urged him to convene an all party meeting to evolve an approach to peace based on political consensus.

A delegation of state Congress leaders led by state party president Manas Bhunia met the governor and apprised him of the deteriorating law and order situtaion in the state, especially in Khejuri area of East Midnapore district, said a statement issued by the state Congress.

“We have given a letter to Governor M.K.Narayanan. It is our representation to the Governor. In that letter we have apprised him of the current political situation and we have also requested him to call a all party meeting,” said state Congress spokesman Prof. Om Prakash Mishra.
