New Delhi : Lashing out at Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi for equating the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), an RSS spokesman Wednesday said the Nehru family scion should “learn more” before making such a comment.
The RSS spokesman, Ram Madhav, also took a dig at his Italian roots and Colombian girlfriend.
“People who make such utterances have to first understand India and the Indian society well. It’s not enough to know only Italy and Colombia,” he said.
Asking Rahul to brush up his knowledge before making “meaningless statements”, Ram Madhav said the Congress general secretary should know the difference between RSS and banned outfits and “know the history of Congress party, which has been accused of fundamentalism in the last six decades”.
Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi launched a no-holds barred attack on the RSS by branding it as “fanatical” and equating it with the outlawed SIMI.
“I know only that both the SIMI and the RSS are fanatical and hold fundamentalist views,” he told reporters in Bhopal.
